WHAT IS THE CAPITAL OF ASSYRIA?

January 26, 2014

If you trust in your song
Keep your eyes on the goal
Then the prize you won't fail
That's your grail. That's your grail

So be strong. Keep right on
To the end of your song. Do not fail.
Find your grail. Find your grail. Find your grail.
Life is really up to you. You must choose what to pursue.
Set your mind on what to find. And there's nothin' you can't do.

So keep right to the end. You'll find your goal my friend.

Find your grail. Find your grail. Find your grail.
When your life seems to drift. When we all need a lift
Trim your sail. You won't fail.

Find your grail. Find your grail. Find your grail.
Life is really up to you. You must choose what to pursue.
Set your mind on what to find. And there's nothin' you can't do.
Find your grail. Find your grail. Find your grail.
~Find Your Grail, Spamalot, Eric Idle

It would probably not come as a surprise to you I have a Monty Python tattoo.
Maybe it would. Now I think about it, I usually get that 'WHAT?! YOU?!' reaction when I tell people I have not one but 5 tattoos.
My second tattoo, and one of my favorites, is my homage to Monty Python. It's located on my left shoulder and is an interpretation of Terry Gilliam's artwork from Monty's Python's Holy GrailIt is King Arthur peering over the edge of The Grail which is being lifted by The Hand of God which is coming out of a cloud...and...wait...hang on a minute.
Maybe this will help:

That's pretty much it. Without the words of course.
It might be weird to find inspiration in something as silly as a Monty Python-based skit but I believe you find inspiration where you find it. Finding it is the important thing.
The comedy of Monty Python is brilliant silliness.
Find Your Grail, words and music by Python member Eric Idle, John DuPrez and long-time Python music collaborator Neil Innes, has a lot of meaning for me. Especially now.
My quest continues.
I have my Grail.
As long as I'm not killed by a white rabbit (It's just a rabbit) it should be quite the adventure.

Just me keeping it reel.

  1. My greatest success as a parent is in raising my children to be able to quote Monty Python. Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, and all the best sketches. It makes for a happy, healthy, and humorous life. And wonderful memories.
