October 30, 2014 When Sally Field won an OSCAR for Best Actress for her work in 1984's Places In The Heart we were all happy for her. I have no doubt the message she wanted to convey was sincere, but somewhere along the line, in the excitement of the moment, it came out a little awkward, and everyone was left feeling a little uncomfortable. http://youtu.be/MWtUVDG5M1w It has become one of the moments that is usually shown during OSCAR highlight reels. Whether it is one of the good moments or one of the bad moments is totally up to the viewer. It's been thirty years and now, watching the clip again, as a working actor, I can totally appreciate what she was saying, or rather, what she meant to say. Th...

October 28, 2014 There is nothing like being on set. For me, it's like stepping into a world I was meant to be part. I know this is what I am supposed to be doing. There is an adrenaline rush. When I see an email from a particular casting director my heart races. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Actually being on set, going through wardrobe and hair and makeup, is exhilarating. There's no feeling like it. It's not about being starstruck, although, to be honest, that does happen. No. This is about the feeling of being where you're supposed to be. It's about me finally feeling like I belong somewhere. Yes I am just a background artist/background player, extra, whatever you want to call it, but I am part of something that is pretty damn cool. Mainly because I didn't have a laptop and trying to write on a an I-phone, no matter how amazing they are, is a just too frustrating. I have fat fingers. Okay. There! I said it! I have fat fingers. Typing with fat fingers is like trying to...well...type with fat fingers. I've also neglected my blog because I've been been working. Actually working! I know. Right? That's a good thing. I have had some pretty amazing experiences and continue to learn about this crazy business, and myself, every single time I step onto and off of set. Since I've last written I have: ~Wrapped on Season 1 of AMC's TURN. Which is now being called TURN: Washington's Spies. I worked seven episodes as a background artist. Side-note: I'm assuming the name change occurred because the majority of the Ame...
